Dream symbol

Dreaming of meteor

The sky letting one piece go: a light that falls, burns brightest at the end, and touches earth if anything is left. The wish tradition and the missile tradition read the same streak opposite ways.

How 3 traditions read it

  • Islamic (Ilm al-Ta'bir)
Shooting stars are missiles: the Quran describes them hurled at eavesdropping devils who steal fragments of heaven’s counsel — the streak as boundary-enforcement between worlds.

  • Ancient Greek
Falling stars in the omen tradition mark a person’s fall or a soul’s passage — the fixed stars were the permanent; a star leaving its place could only mean someone leaving theirs.

  • Jungian Analytical
An insight or figure that descends fast, illuminates completely, and is gone — the dream asks whether anything survived to the ground: a meteorite is an idea you can actually hold afterward.

Themes that recur across cultures

  • The brief and total — brightness measured in seconds
  • The fall from heaven: descent, expulsion, or delivery
  • The wish (the modern folk reading) versus the warning (the old ones)
  • Sky-stuff reaching earth — the boundary crossed physically

Questions to ask about your dream

  • · Did it burn out overhead, or land?
  • · Did you wish — and do you remember what?
  • · What in your life was brilliant and brief lately?
  • · If something reached the ground: what do you now hold that came from that height?
